The one who notices when a sentence is doing too much work, or when the question is the wrong one. Better at people. Brings the introductions, the second opinions, and most of the cuts.

If Julian writes ten drafts, Rocco picks the one that sounds like a person actually wrote it. That ratio is roughly the whole point.

Why both names.

Every letter goes out with two signatures because every letter has had two sets of eyes on it. There is no senior editor and no junior editor. There is a draft, an argument about the draft, and then the letter.
